KRUPENKOVA N.V. «Sociological Measurement: Latent Variable Models Emergence (Part I)»: The emergence of the main types of latent variable models is examined in the paper. Problems and special tasks of social measurement are considered as a context of models emergence history. Ideas of form and character of latent and observe variables relation as realized in the models are considered. The first part of the article discusses models of classical tests theory, item response theory, factor analysis and latent structure analysis.

SHCHERBINA V.V. «Populational Selection Model of Organizational Development (Part I)»: The article is devoted to the contemporary sociological theoretical model explaining the substance, content and machinery of the organizational development process. The model under consideration is named as populational selection model and treated as a version of the approach known in organizational theory as organizational ecology. The present part of the article observes the difficulties in understanding of organizational development nature as appeared in organizational theory in the 70th, contradictions in methodological foundations of organizational nature comprehension, discoveries of the 60-70th in the field of organizational behavior and the other organizational development models used in constructing of populational selection model.

BATYKOV I.V. «Rank Order Grid Technique in Small Group Investigation»: The paper considers the process of small social group investigation with the help of rank order grid technique. There are revealed the potentialities of the technique for obtaining formalized information on socio-psychological characteristics of a group and for various indicators of group structure computation.

MASLAK A.A., POZDNYAKOV S.A. «Rasch Model as Used for Estimation of Tolerance Measurement Quality»: The validity of the model for measuring tolerance as an attitude is examined. For this aim the writers have used Rasch model which allows integrating several different indicators into one interval variable.

GUKHMAN V.B., GUSAROV A.A. «On the Assessment of Election Results with the Help of Goodness of Fit Statistical Criterion»: The paper substantiates the appropriateness of goodness of fit criteria and particularly chi-square criterion for assessment of election results legitimacy. Decision making logic in questionable situations is illustrated by specific examples.

TROFIMOV D.A. «Log-linear Analysis of Mobility Tables: Basic Models Review»: The article reviews log-linear analysis methods which are used for social mobility research most often. The potentialities of log-linear methods are illustrated by examples of the writer’s investigation on housing mobility during the different periods of Russian society development.

SALO Ye.P. «The Experience of Investigation in Social Status of Traditional Medicine Specialists»: The social status of the group of traditional medicine specialists is analyzed in the paper on the base of interview data. Social status is treated as a set of resourses (authority, economical and cultural) which afford opportunities for traditional medicine specialists to become a special professional group.
